Authors Notes on poem “A Firm Foundation“:
Dear Ones all,
This poem came to me at 6 am the day of your Anniversary Celebration, but was documented only in long-hand, so I didn’t bring it to share.
Dolores Collins emailed the CaringBridge link, which enables viewing the Journal posts, but I’m not “subscribed” to post messages, so sending this expression of my admiration for your strong family commitment to Christ.
The Awesome, Accessible, Almighty God, who said: “I am the Lord that healeth thee,” is still on the throne!
“Contending earnestly for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints” (Jude 1:3b).
From one delivered while in the throes of death from blood poisoning in a wisdom-tooth extraction at 26, now 85.5. Faith IS the victory, either way.
Much love, Roberta

~~~~~~~ Original poem “A Firm Foundation” ~~~~~~
By Roberta N. Tuthill
‘Tis a beautiful sight to behold,
More precious than silver or gold:
A home built on faith,
A foundation of grace,
Watching God-given talents unfold.
A household established on faith,
With Christ as foundation and base,
Its walls firm and stout,
Keeping storms and threats out,
Children fed and nurtured with grace.
The Lord’s admonition and awe
Build a home out of stone, not of straw,
That will stand through the gale,
Though the winds howl and wail.
Lives of faith overcome every flaw.
Faith sends out a signal to God,
Matters not that our nature was flawed.
He shaped us from dust,
But with strong upward thrust.
In Christ we are sanctified sod!
